First Impressions

With summer in its waning days you still have time to make your front door and entry ready for company. If you had planned all summer to get your front door painted, you still have time. Make sure you have prepped your door for painting if that is necessary and get a fresh coat on now, before winter hits.

Fall is a good time to get your yard and front porch cleaned up for the coming cooler weather; even if we aren’t experiencing it right now, it will soon be here.

Take a good look at your entry is it pleasing and easy to reach? Do you need a new light fixture or path lighting and are those street numbers easy to ready in the dark? Think about getting a fresh new welcome mat and polish up that door hardware.

Wash the windows beside the door and put up a fresh new fall wreath that says ‘Welcome’ to all your family and guests.

There is no need to lament the loss of all your summer color. You can add new fall colors; think reds, yellows and bright oranges. You might consider adding some interesting pots filled with some grasses and plants with a little purple for contrast, to put next to the door. You can add some small pumpkins or gourds to the planters to enhance the fall look.

Have some fun with color and enjoy your new look, I’m sure your neighbors and guest will too.
