Art Is All Around You

People tend to forget that art is beauty and it is all around us in may forms. Your walls don’t have to be host only to framed family pictures or prized gallery art work. If you are looking to update a room, all you need to do is look around you; do you have a budding artist in grade school? Why not take a simple drawing or painting and give it galleries look with a colorful mat and good frame?

Another area that is often overlooked is in the form of textiles. Several of grandmother’s delicate handkerchiefs, matted and framed make a lovely addition to a little girl’s room. A framed favorite sports jersey or uniform will make a child reach for his or her goals.

Remember your travels by displaying textiles you’ve picked up. A simple artist’s canvas can be covered with a piece of fabric you picked up at a bazaar or a scarf that you bargained for in a flea market. If you’ve traveled overseas and have a tribal costume, you might consider displaying it by hanging it from a decorative curtain rod or perhaps a piece of bamboo. Try to use something that would be connected with the country from which it originated.

All of these things are pieces of our lives and help tell our story, not to mention they make great conversation pieces.
